FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our restoration process, insurance and what to expect.
Getting Started
How fast can you respond to an emergency?
We're available 24/7 for property emergencies. Call us any time, day or night, and we'll walk you through immediate steps and get a team on the way.
How long does it take to get a quote?
Initial quotes are often available the same day, once we've had a chance to assess the damage. Larger or more complex projects may take a bit longer to fully scope.
Are estimates free?
Yes. We provide a free, no-obligation assessment and quote before any work begins.
What areas do you serve?
We serve London, St. Thomas, Lucan, Ingersoll, Strathroy, St. Marys, Aylmer, Muncey and Woodstock and surrounding communities, for both residential and commercial properties.
Water Damage
Why does my drying equipment need to stay running?
Drying equipment works continuously to remove moisture from the air, floors and walls. Turning it off, even briefly, can slow drying and increase the risk of mould growth.
Can I move the drying equipment myself?
We ask that you leave equipment where our technicians placed it. It's positioned specifically to dry the affected areas efficiently, and moving it can reduce its effectiveness.
Will water damage always lead to mould?
Not necessarily. Mould is much less likely when water damage is addressed quickly and thoroughly dried. If you notice mould growth at any point, let us know right away.
Fire & Smoke Damage
Can smoke odour really be removed?
In most cases, yes. Removing smoke odour thoroughly can take specialized cleaning and equipment, and in some cases removal of affected materials like drywall or flooring.
Do I need a permit for fire repairs?
It depends on the extent of the damage. Larger structural repairs typically require permits, while cosmetic cleanup usually does not. We'll let you know what applies to your project.
What happens to items damaged by smoke?
We assess each item to determine what can be cleaned and restored versus what needs to be replaced, and handle contents cleaning as part of the restoration process.
Mould
How do I know if I have a mould problem?
Common signs include a musty smell, visible discolouration on walls or ceilings, or a history of water damage or high humidity in the area. If you're unsure, we can inspect and advise.
Is mould dangerous?
Mould can affect indoor air quality and may cause health effects for some people, particularly with prolonged exposure. It's best addressed by a professional rather than surface cleaning alone.
Do you test before removing mould?
We start with a visual assessment to identify the affected area and likely moisture source, then contain and remove the mould using appropriate procedures.
Asbestos
How do I know if my home has asbestos?
Homes built or renovated before the 1990s are more likely to contain asbestos in insulation, flooring or ceiling materials. Testing is the only reliable way to confirm it.
Is it safe to stay in my home during asbestos removal?
Undisturbed asbestos is generally not airborne, but during active removal we contain and seal off the work area. We'll advise you on any precautions specific to your project.
Contents & Belongings
What happens to my belongings during restoration?
We assess, document and carefully handle affected belongings, cleaning and restoring what can be saved and identifying what cannot.
Where are my belongings stored during a project?
Depending on the project, items may be cleaned on-site or packed out and stored securely off-site until work is complete.
Insurance & Claims
Do you work directly with my insurance company?
Yes, with your authorization we can communicate with your insurance adjuster, document the damage and help prepare a scope of work to support your claim.
Will you help negotiate my claim?
We can help document your loss and communicate with your adjuster, but coverage and settlement decisions are made by your insurance company. See our Insurance Negotiating page for more detail.
Do I need to pay upfront?
Payment terms depend on your specific project and will be set out clearly in your service agreement before work begins.
Repairs & Reconstruction
How long does reconstruction take?
Timelines vary depending on the extent of the damage and scope of work. We'll give you a project timeline as part of your quote.
Can I request upgrades during the rebuild?
Yes. If you'd like to upgrade materials or finishes beyond your insurance scope, we can provide a separate estimate for the difference.
What if I'm not happy with the finished work?
Let us know. We do a final walkthrough with you at the end of every project specifically to catch and resolve any concerns before calling the job done.
